Last summer or the summer before that, Smithville came through the neighborhood to lay fiber optic cable. This year, AT&T is doing the same. Digging up yards, laying cable, spilling oil, making noise, leaving expensive machines running, spewing fumes, and wasting gas, etc. I suppose that Xfinity will want to do the same someday.
Isn't it obvious that this installation of duplicative infrastructure is a profligate use of resources and imposes repeated harm on the environment? Why should every service provider be installing independent infrastructure? Wait, I know the answer to this one: money, profit for the business. Just not anything better for the consumer, the animals who live here, or the environment overall.
These companies want to do business here? Adopt some guidelines, ordinances, or laws that compel them to cooperate. Allowing multiple corporations to lay their own cable is wasteful, harmful, and short-sighted.

Sidewalk Requests
1666 Liberty Dr

North of the Constitution a long Liberty Drive there is only a sidewalk on the east side of the street, and the BMV is where the last crosswalk is. Pedestrians are expected to only need to access the east side of the street where the car dealerships are, but have no sidewalk or crosswalks to get to services such as IU Health, the dentist, or Goodwill where many low-income people shop and work. To cross the street from Menards to go to Goodwill, cars are not expected to slow down or stop for crossing pedestrians without any markers and there is a bend in the road there. You could walk along the grass, but the terrain is uneven and would be dangerous if there was mud or snow, and anytime after dark, and it stays dark in the morning and gets dark early in the evening during winter. I truly believe that the west side of the street needs a sidewalk north of Constitution and the last bus stop, and there needs to be crosswalks on Liberty between Constitution and West 3rd Street north of the last bus stop. If there were a sidewalk on the west side of Liberty, bus riders could choose getting off the bus near Kroger and walk the length of the sidewalk or use crosswalks, or get off the bus where Liberty meets Constitution and walk. Thank you for looking into this.
Nuisance Lights
48 Knightridge Manor Apartment

There is a very bright white light on a utility pole about 10 feet from our apartment and bedroom window. A large pine tree had previously been blocking much of the light, but a tree crew cut down the tree and now the light is shining directly into the window. I think this could constitute a light violation. Could somebody please check out this light?

There is a row of storage units immediately to the south of my apartment at Brandon Ct. There is a space between the units and a fence that is supposed to be maintained by Henderson Court. As you can see by the photo (I can provide more), it appears that unhoused people use it as a place to sleep. The area is strewn with trash, and mattress/foundation, and I would suspect that drug activity is or has occurred in the space. Furthermore, several packages have been stolen off of my stoop by occupants of this space. Clearly, this poses a health and safety hazard.
I ask that the City investigate the area and assess fines and other sanctions against Granite, the listed property owners or managers. In addition to clean up and possible environmental remediation, I want the area secured in such a fashion that in the future no unhoused people can reoccupy the space. The Department may also need to contact Henderson Court for erection of a fence that denies access for the length of the fence that serves as the property line between Henderson Court and Brandon Court.
I would like the City
