Nuisance Lights
701 W Kirkwood AVE
- Case Date:

Either a new streetlamp was installed or they changed the bulb in this street lamp and the light coming through my black out curtains is obscene. I feel as though my house has a spotlight shining through the windows. Can this be replaced with a different bulb or replaced with a fixture that casts the light downward rather than out?

These abandoned non functioning cars continue to be an issue since my last report. There are now6-7 cars parked in the backyard and the drive way. My attached photo is of a derby car that he worked on usually at night. Between the noise and the junk we have had enough.
Blocked Sidewalk

These hand rails stick into the public sidewalk - a pedestrian not paying attention could run into these or a bicyclist could really have a collision with these. In at least two places. And they have put reflective tape on them which seems to indicate past problems.

There is an apartment complex which has been in business for over thirty years that has had graffiti on the retaining wall for over six months. It is located at the corner of Fess and 2nd Street. I initially thought that the owners of the complex would do something about it but so far, nothing.

Drainage or Runoff
728 W Allen ST
- Case Date:
- 3/25/2026
Recurring flooding is affecting yards and driveways in our neighborhood, with water reaching depths up to a few feet during heavy rain events. This occurs several times per year and has resulted in property damage, including several vehicles in the neighborhood.
Two culverts carry water beneath the roadway at this location. Based on observed conditions, the culverts appear to be insufficient to handle stormwater during frequent events, creating a backwater effect that causes water to pond in residential areas upstream.
Previous inquiries have indicated this may be attributed to the area’s flood zone designation. However, the frequency and severity of flooding suggest this exceeds typical floodplain conditions and may indicate inadequate drainage capacity.
Requesting a formal evaluation of the culvert system and overall drainage, including assessment of capacity and consideration of potential improvements.

Hi~ We manage the property at 729 E. Hunter. A tenant complained about a tree that is dead dropping branches on their car. I contacted the management company for the building next door and they believe it might be on City property. Could you look and let us know ?
Line of Sight

You have to pull all the way to the very edge of the road to see around the bushes and shrubs that grow in that gore/traffic island between Dodds, Walnut, and College Ave. The shrubs are grown out to the point where visibility is obscured, making it difficult to see around them until you're basically in the road. This is especially dangerous because of how busy Walnut St is during the day.
Sidewalk & Curb Complaints
810 N Walnut St

Every time it rains our street floods severely and then backs up onto the sidewalks and coats them in a thick layer of mud. It’s a combination of heavy storms that the storm drain on the corner of 12th and Walnut cannot keep up with and a residual problem caused by the fiberware that was installed last year. Ever since they dug up the corner of 12th and Walnut the ground is nothing but mud and has been slowly taking over the sidewalk. It is unsafe to walk on as it is incredibly slippery and is at least an inch thick.
