I had sent in a request on 5/19/25 Case #202787 reporting that Olive Street needs a concrete curb installed. Due to the excessive rainfall this has caused flooding issues for 1502 S. Olive and the house on the corner of Hillside and Olive (1144 E. Hillside Dr.). I was informed that this was on the paving list and there was plans for an asphalt curb. I called on 6/9/25 and spoke to the Engineering dept. (Iris) about installing a concrete curb instead of asphalt. There is already a partial concrete curb that runs past 1502. It needs to have a concrete curb all the way up the hill so that rain will not flood into the driveway and along the house of 1502, plus it runs past the curb into the yard of 1144 E. Hillside causing flooding in the basement. They have a sump pump now, but it's old and could quit at any time. It's already August and there hasn't been any kind of activity on this street. Do you have an estimated date as to when the street will be paved and the curb installed? Also, there is a construction sign in the yard of 1144 E. Hillside that has been there all summer and would like it to be moved. Thank you for any information you can provide!

I am currently attending the virtual City of Bloomington Board of Park Commissioners meeting via Zoom. I am disappointed by the city’s negligence to make this meeting more accessible for those with hearing barriers. Why don’t ALL virtual city meetings have closed captions and/or live signing?

Auto pay failure. I am signed up for Auto Pay. Every time I log in to my account, it says I am signed up for Auto Pay. But the city keeps failing to collect that Auto Pay payment and charging me late fees for bill that are approved to Auto Pay. If someone can address this matter, I would appreciate it.

There are a few streetlights in Bloomington that need to be fixed. I've had no luck getting Duke Energy to repair them. Since none of these specific streetlights appear on Duke's website maps, I contacted them directly about them. I got a Duke employee to respond a couple of months ago with a text that said, "we will fix them", but as of today they are still not fixed. Maybe the city of Bloomington can contact Duke about them and get them fixed? The streetlights are at the following locations: (1). 2nd St and S Adams St. The only light at this intersection. Very dark at this intersection without the light. (2) On 2nd St, near the intersection of S Patterson Dr. There are two of the green streetlamps that are out. Right next to each other. Directly in front of the store called "Hopes Dispensary". (3) At the intersection of 4th St. and S. Walnut. There are two streetlights at this intersection, but the one that is out is directly over the crosswalk on 4th St. Again, none of these streetlights appear on Duke's maps, and I'm having no luck getting Duke to fix them. Reported by BikeSmith (112 S College) a homeless shelter made out of cardboard was erected on their rear deck, between 113 S Gentry and 117 S Gentry, next to 119 S Gentry. The cardboard has been cleaned up. The individual(s) are no longer on site. We wanted the issue documented by the City of Bloomington. Thank you. Mike at Olympus Properties

Gary Wampler is the owner having over 20 people in the house and they all on drugs and alcohol and they abuse him and he's not being honest the house wires are bad and can be caught on fire easy drugs in the house and dealing and prostitutes the property is a mess with trash and non working vehicles and drugs in them also the dog is being abused to also 2609 kendell drive the heater not fix not keeping up with the tent right

Resident, working as a rideshare driver, reports observing traffic at the intersection of E 17th St. and N Eagleson Ave. for approximately 20 minutes. During this time several pedestrian near-misses were observed. Resident believes that Rush Week has created a situation where IU students are frequently crossing the road while distracted with their smartphones (i.e., participating in Rush-related activities). Consequently, students are using sidewalks according to existing paint markings on the road. Although 2 crosswalk curb ramps have been removed recently, paint for those crosswalks is still on the road. The paint is also impeded by mud in parts, which can be difficult for drivers to see. Students are prompting traffic to stop at 4 separate locations along E 17th St. at irregular intervals. Resident is requesting removal of old sidewalk markings and/or posting of a crosswalk closure sign.
