Mayor Hamilton to Present Eighth State of the City Address: Your Future is Here

WHAT: Mayor John Hamilton presents his eighth annual State of the City address to the community at the John Waldron Arts Center. All are invited to attend the free event. 

 

Complementing the Mayor’s remarks, the work of local artists will be showcased, including live piano and string music from young performers and professional musicians, a short performance from Reimagining Opera for Kids (ROK), poetry readings from local high school students, a video presentation, and Illuminate: Emerging Bloomington Artists exhibition featuring work by Bloomington artists who received grants from the Bloomington Arts Commission 2022 emerging artist grant cycle. 

 

The event will be convened and adjourned by the Bloomington Common Council, for which it serves as an official meeting. Simultaneous interpretation in American Sign Language will be provided.  

 

WHO: In addition to Mayor Hamilton’s annual address, the event will include a call to order of the Bloomington City Council and poetry reading from students at Bloomington High School South. City Department Heads and special guests will join Mayor Hamilton. 

 

WHEN: Thursday, February 23, from 6-9 p.m:, doors open at 6 p.m., reception from 6-7 p.m., remarks at 7 p.m., post-event reception from 8-9 p.m.

 

WHERE: John Waldron Arts Center, 122 South Walnut Street. Entrance is off of South Walnut or 4th Street, with accessible entry available on the 4th Street side. Community Access TV Services (CATS) will also broadcast the program; watch it live at catstv.net. Registration is not required to attend this event.
