Statement from Mayor Hamilton Regarding Recent Federal Abortion Ruling in Texas

One radical federal judge in Texas yesterday assaulted civil rights everywhere, as he rejected science and decades of safe health care, seeking to outlaw America’s most common form of abortion used all across the nation. Medication abortions are safe and essential. This self-avowed anti-choice judge would ban the use of mifepristone all across the country, even in strongly pro-choice states. It’s an outrage, and the federal government will be appealing the decision immediately. But it reminds us the importance of pro-choice legislators and executives, to protect our rights. We need federal legislation to protect our civil rights and we all need to vote to do the same. Our future depends on it.
