This project will include installation of traffic calming devices along E Maxwell Ln from Henderson St to Woodlawn Ave. Traffic Calming devices include speed humps, pavement markings, and signs.
This traffic calming project was prioritized through the City's Resident-Led Process of the Traffic Calming and Greenways Program (TCGP). For additional information on this prioritization process, please contact the Planning and Transportation Department at 812-349-3913.

Permit, Petition, Verification, and Occupancy Information
Certificate of Zoning Compliance (CZC) for Building Permit
If you need to apply for a building permit for a new triplex, fourplex, multifamily, commercial, institutional, office, industrial, or any non-Class 2 structure or anything requiring a building permit on a site containing those primary buildings, including a remodel or accessory structure, please apply through the Monroe County Building Department. This is the current process and will not be changing at this time.
If you need to apply for a building permit for a new single-family detached or attached, duplex, or townhouse structure or anything requiring a building permit on a site containing those primary buildings, including a remodel or accessory structure, you must apply for and receive your CZC through CivicAccess before you can apply at the Monroe County Building Department. These types of structures are referred to as Class 2 structures and are regulated differently beginning January 1, 2026 per Indiana Enrolled House Bill 1005. You must have a complete application in order to apply. The process and requirements are discussed on the Class 2 Structure Permitting Process page.

Site Development Permit
If you need to apply for a site development permit for a site that has an approved site plan and/or a floodplain development permit in process, please apply through CivicAccess.
Floodplain Development Permit
If you need to apply for a floodplain development permit for work in the floodplain including building and earth movement, please apply through CivicAccess.
Temporary Use Permit

Change In Use Permit
If you need to apply for a change in use permit, please access the application and submit a copy of the completed application and supporting site plan to [email protected] or you can supply a paper copy of the completed application and supporting site plan to the Department.
Occupancy Inspection
If your development site is completed to the temporary or final occupancy standards, please access the application and submit the application to [email protected].
Petition Documents
If you are applying for a zoning map amendment (rezone), planned unit development (PUD), site plan, primary or secondary subdivision, subdivision vacation, variance, conditional use, or an administrative appeal, please access the application and submit with your other documents at your petition filing appointment.
