Businesses may set up an account with City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) to enable water and wastewater service.

If you are starting a restaurant, it's important that you speak with the Utilities Environmental Department about grease interceptors. All food service establishments are required to have an approved grease interceptor installed prior to occupancy. It's advisable that you determine whether your property and business require a grease interceptor prior to signing a lease or taking on financial commitments due to the cost and time associated with installing a grease interceptor.

The CBU will ask that you provide the following documentation:

  • 2 sets of Engineering Plans (including fire suppression and backflow prevention)
  • Kitchen Layout and Plumbing Plans (including waste diagrams)
  • Application for New Service
  • Fixture Count Form
