The City of Bloomington Opens Applications for $150,000 in Violence Reduction Grants
The City of Bloomington’s Community and Family Resources Department is now accepting applications for its 2025 Violence Reduction Grants program, an initiative that supports violence prevention and reduction efforts through investments in local neighborhood-based, evidence-driven agencies and organizations.
The City has allocated $150,000 for 2025 to fund community-led efforts focused on prevention, intervention, and violence reduction
Eligible applicants include but are not limited to nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations, resident councils, and faith-based communities serving Bloomington. Organizations with demonstrated experience in crime intervention, particularly those addressing retaliatory and youth-involved violence, are especially encouraged to apply. Applications that include collaboration among two or more partners will be viewed favorably.
Agencies that incorporate Heading Home of South Central Indiana’s Built for Zero initiative in their violence reduction strategies and demonstrate a commitment to data-driven, systems-level change will also be given priority consideration.
Agencies that receive funding through this program must provide services that are housing-oriented and consistent with the Heading Home Plan to ensure alignment with broader housing stability and violence prevention goals.
Funded partners are also required to actively and regularly participate in Region 10 Coordinated Entry and Regional Planning Council (South Central Housing Network) meetings.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1. Grant awards will be announced no later than Friday, Aug. 29, and funded programs will begin implementation on or after Sept. 1.
