Mayor Hamilton Appoints Tim Street as Interim Director of Park and Recreation

Mayor John Hamilton announced today that Tim Street will serve as Interim Director of the Parks and Recreation Department effective October 17, succeeding current Director Paula McDevitt, who is retiring effective October 16.

Tim Street has served as Director of the Operations and Development Division of the Parks and Recreation Department since January 2021. He previously served as Associate Director at Indiana University’s Bradford Woods outdoor education center. He continues to work as an instructor and backcountry leader with IU Outdoor Adventures. Steet holds professional certifications as a Certified Park and Recreation Professional and a Certified Playground Safety Inspector. He earned his bachelor of arts and masters of public affairs degrees from IU. Street will earn an annual salary of $89,007.

I am confident he and all the experienced and dedicated members of the department will continue their excellent service to our residents and visitors.”

McDevitt has served the City of Bloomington for 35 years in various roles in the Parks and Recreation Department, including as Director over the past eight years.

It is fitting that her City career culminates as the leader of the award-winning department,” said Mayor John Hamilton. “On behalf of all our residents and visitors, we thank Paula deeply for her unflagging commitment to quality and service, sincerely appreciate the lasting impact she has created, and we wish her the best in her well-earned retirement.”
