Winslow Road Milling and Resurfacing is Complete; Parks and Recreation Reduces Their Carbon Footprint; and Duke Energy Continues their Bloomington Reliability Project

Numerous infrastructure improvement projects are underway this season to advance community goals, including safety, sustainability, accessibility, equity, economic vitality, and quality of life in Bloomington. The City will provide regular public updates on a range of these improvements as they progress. The City makes every effort to provide residents and visitors with updated and accurate information though all projects schedules are weather dependent.

PARKS & RECREATION

This year, Parks & Recreation has made significant progress toward its goal of eliminating two-stroke and other gasoline-powered landscaping and maintenance equipment. In addition to three zero-turn, battery-operated mowers for use at Switchyard Park, Rose Hill Cemetery, and Bryan Park, the department has invested in nearly 100 pieces of battery-operated equipment, including leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, pole saws, and chainsaws, as well as various attachments and additional batteries. Funds for electrification of equipment for both the Parks & Recreation and Public Works Departments was provided by the Department of Economic & Sustainable Development, through local income tax.
