Bloomington’s Tree Canopy Grows; Traffic Calming on Maxwell; and More Street Resurfacing
Bloomington, Ind. – Numerous infrastructure improvement projects are underway this season to advance community goals, including safety, sustainability, accessibility, equity, economic vitality, and quality of life in Bloomington. The City will provide regular public updates on a range of these improvements as they progress.
PARKS & RECREATION
Tree Plantings–
Parks and Recreation staff celebrated Arbor Day last week with two separate volunteer tree plantings and an Arbor Day ceremony at Switchyard Park. On April 28, urban forestry crews and volunteers planted a total of five trees (four American Hornbeams and one American Linden) on the north side of Switchyard Park at the Grimes Lane parking area. An additional 32 volunteers met urban forestry staff at RCA Community Park on April 29 and planted 40 trees, representing 12 native Indiana tree species. An additional 30 trees are scheduled to be planted at RCA Community Park in the coming weeks. Parks and Recreation thanks its dedicated volunteers for their hard work in helping to grow our city's tree canopy.
