We would love a couple speed bumps along South Madison st. Every day between 4:30-6:30 or whenever the Rogers and Country Club/Tapp intersection gets congested we get several yahoos ripping through here skirting that intersection. This is a pretty kid and family area. People of all ages are often outside riding bikes, walking dogsor whatever and it's not rare for someone to rip through here approaching 50mph. Even 35 on this small quiet street is excessive. I suppose this has been going on always but today I was nearly hit by a car going way too fast and blowing through the stop sign at Madison and graham. I know city stuff can be glacial in the best if days, but it's really getting out of hand now that students are back and traffic patterns have reverted away from our summer driving routes.

A commercial, medium-duty International refrigerated box truck has been parked long-term on a residential property for several years. The vehicle is a commercial fleet vehicle displaying truck unit number "001" and US DOT registration number "2311710". It is not actively being used for delivery or residential service. Instead, it is being stored long-term in direct view of the neighborhood.Observed Municipal Code & Zoning Violations:Parking on an Unimproved Surface (BMC Section 15.32.025):The commercial truck is parked directly on the residential grass/lawn rather than an approved asphalt or concrete surface.Commercial Vehicle Storage in a Residential District:The vehicle is a large, non-residential commercial fleet truck with a refrigerated cooling unit (reefer). Storing commercial logistics/freight equipment on a residential property violates local zoning boundaries and exceeds permitted home occupation standards.Chronic/Long-Term Abandoned Storage:This vehicle has remained on the property for years, functioning as long-term outdoor industrial storage rather than active residential transport.Requested Action:Please dispatch a Code Enforcement Officer from Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) or a Zoning Compliance Officer from the Planning and Transportation Department to inspect the property, document the unimproved surface violation, and issue a formal Notice of Violation to the property owner.(Attaching the provided photo to this complaint for visual evidence.)

There is an SUV in this driveway that is up on blocks and has a black tarp covering the front driver side window. It has been up on blocks with the front tires off, but on the ground for months. It just looks bad every time I drive by this house. Can they please move the car into their garage or get it fixed?

I am requesting an inspection of the property at 1800 S. Walnut Street, Bloomington, Indiana, where approximately 63 used/discarded tires are currently being stored outdoors on the grassy area behind the automotive repair facility.
The tires are being stored uncovered and directly on the ground/grass, with numerous tires positioned open-side-up. Several tires are stacked together while others are scattered individually around the area. Based on their condition and the manner in which they are being stored, I am concerned that these may constitute discarded or waste tires rather than properly stored usable tire inventory.
I am particularly concerned about the potential for the tires to collect standing rainwater. The open tires can act as containers for water and potentially create breeding habitat for mosquitoes and other disease vectors. The tire pile is also located immediately adjacent to a wooded/vegetated area and a creek/drainage corridor, which raises additional concerns about rodents, insects, snakes, and other wildlife using the tire pile for shelter or nesting.
The accumulation is also located very close to neighboring business property and appears to be immediately adjacent to the creek/drainage area. I am requesting that the City determine whether the storage area complies with the Bloomington UDO provisions governing vehicle-repair uses and outdoor storage of discarded tires/materials, as well as any applicable riparian-buffer, drainage, stormwater, floodplain, or environmental requirements.
I am also requesting that the City evaluate whether the manner in which these tires are being stored creates a nuisance, fire hazard, mosquito/vector concern, or other health or environmental concern, and whether the property owner/operator is required to remove, relocate, cover, or otherwise properly manage the tires.
I have photographs documenting the current condition and location of the tire accumulation.
I am not asking the City to assume that the tires are waste tires; I am requesting that the appropriate department inspect the property and make that determination based on the applicable Bloomington and Indiana requirements.
Thank you for investigating this matter.
