These cars park here everyday, right next to the no parking sign. There is residential street parking available on the other side of the street that they could be using. It causes traffic problems when cars are parked on both sides of the street.

A basketball hoop was installed down the street from my residence. The court is the street. Not only has it caused a disturbance in my household due to incessant noise, but I’ve witnessed multiple cars now honk at the child while trying to get through. It is entirely unsafe and a hazard for the child and drivers. There are also parked cars where the hoop was installed. I have asked the two residences closest to the basketball hoop if they could remove it but they said it was owned and set up by a family that doesn’t even live on our street nor were they asked permission. They have also noted concerns. This is not only an issue with noise but is an issue with safety for many.

I sit on Landmark to turn left onto westbound 3rd Street. The light cycle seems far longer than any other light cycle in Bloomington. I timed it this morning and I sat at the light for 5 minutes 34 seconds. Is that expected and normal? To avoid this, I end up turning right and pulling a u-turn which I know isn't safe, but is the quickest way to get out of that intersection. It was around 7:50am this morning. The traffic on 3rd street never got an arrow even to turn left onto Landmark

Traffic Suggestions

I would like to suggest adding a designated pedestrian crossing at this location. This area is frequently used by students and other pedestrians traveling to and from the IU campus. There are also churches, mosques, and residential areas nearby, which contribute to regular pedestrian activity.
Crossing the street at this location can be difficult and unsafe because 3rd Street carries heavy traffic. The situation becomes especially challenging because vehicles coming from S. Rose Avenue are also merging into or crossing the traffic on 3rd Street. With pedestrians trying to cross at the same location, there are several movements happening at once, which can create a potentially dangerous situation.
A clearly designated pedestrian crossing, along with appropriate signs, signals, or other pedestrian safety measures, would make this area much safer and more accessible. Given the proximity to the university, residential neighborhoods, and places of worship, I believe improving pedestrian access at this location would benefit both students and the surrounding community.
