Southeast Park tennis courts have tall weeds growing around the fence area. Also, the sidewalk on the northside of the tennis courts is caked in mud, making it difficult to use. This was addressed a couple of months ago, but the mud is back. Looks like the sidewalk needs to be raised or re-done to fix the problem.
There are two billboards on this parcel N of our neighborhood entrance on N Walnut St to the W beyond the chiropractor’s office. It appears this parcel was once owned by Hoosier Outdoor Advertising so, I’m presuming that once Steve Ferguson obtained it and Parks and Rec is now the owner that both of these billboards can be taken out and until that might happen at least the one with the lights can have those deactived along with any service. It would be perfect if this area would then be able to gain native trees to add our Tree City USA canopy and Haskell Smith would be able to increase our diversity with new trees followed by native shrubs et al that will be most welcomed over any likely invasive bush honeysuckle et al along this main coordinator into our City and from the N into Cascades Park along the E side of Old State Rd 37 or Dixie Hwy. Thank you for letting me know if I can provide any additional information that might permit this prime cooridor becoming most appreciated and greatly improved with native trees and plants stepping up our Greenspace cooridors W and E along N Walnut Street. Frank Southern Ice Arena: Disappointing that the frank is closed during summer. Cant play any pick-up/drop-in hockey unless you want to drive to Columbus (who's open year-round). I understand its probably expensive to operate, but if we could even get an outdoor roller hockey rink somewhere that would be fantastic. Just a thought.
I would like to have the trees along the sidewalk in front of our house evaluated. A large branch fell from one in early July, picture attached. I am concerned about the remainder of this tree along with the others along the sidewalk.
Large dog park at Switchyard. You guys were so responsive to my recent report, I thought I would send you another one. You have at least 5 broken sprinkler heads that are leaking water. See attached file. I didn't walk the whole park. There may be others between the big hill and sun shade area. Otherwise park is great (once the mud hole is filled in)! Us dog owners love it. Trees on the street side of the sidewalk on this property (especially, but not only, the one near the driveway) appear to be in poor health or dead. Branches fall with nearly every moderate storm that comes through.
There is poison ivy around the inside of the perimeter of the tennis court (where balls often go)
I saw this Walking with Ease sign at Bryan Park. For people with arthritis or poor balance or impaired vision / hearing or other such issues would walk around the asphalt paths with greater ease and sense of safety if some "Cyclists Yield to Pedestrians" signs were posted. This is especially true of the path through the middle of the park, which connects cyclists between the Allen Street Bicycle Boulevard and the Southdowns bike-ped lanes. I would suggest a sign at each end of that path, on the the Henderson and Woodlawn sides. I walk there frequently with my dog and friends. Cyclists approach from in front and behind. We pedestrians usually make room and sometimes the cyclists do. Sometimes they let us know when they come up from behind, but not always. Some signage could end the confusions over right-of-way. Keep in mind that the mid-path curves. That is pleasant and would be safer if cyclists slowed down and anticipated other users. Defensivei cycling, the cycling version of defensive driving. Thanks!
My house backs up to this park, and there is a large tree that is now dead and seems like it could fall on the power lines or my house
Bicycle parking is never good for the Saturday Farmer's Market, but today it was exceptionally problematic. When I first arrived I was able to lock my trike but when I had trouble accessing my lock and when I did get to it two helpful young men assisted by lifting my trike to free it from the pile. I am 75 years old. This was hard. My trike is ADA compliant but it is not compact. I don't take it into the market, but my walking ability is limited so don't tell me about the bike racks that are blocks away from the market. Please do better with bike parking convenient to the market
