Traffic Signals

405 W 3rd St

Case Date:
8/23/2026

The traffic light at 3rd and Madison turns red for 3rd and green for Madison when there is no one trying to cross at Madison, either in a vehicle, on a bike, or as a pedestrian. 3rd is the detour for the Rogers closure, and it causes backups on 3rd when the light is red for 40-50 seconds for no reason. Then, the light at 3rd and Rogers is not timing up with the erroneous red lights at Madison, so traffic just backs up yet again one block away between those two lights. Send someone out ot fix this. Madison used to require someone to be there to trigger it. That would be a much better solution, go back to how it worked fine before.

Traffic Signals

2150 S Walnut St

Case Date:
8/23/2026

I have reported this light at S. Walnut and E. South Dr. numerous times. The City needs to finally fix it. The light triggers for South Drive on its own, a phantom vehicle or pedestrian. Then, the light is red for Walnut in both directions for 45-50 seconds. Traffic backs up on Walnut, all so no one can proceed on South Drive because no one is there to use the light. This light used to only go to green for South Drive if someone was there in a vehicle or pushed the pedestrian button. That broke down earlier this year and continues to be a significant issue that the City does not seem to address. Why would Walnut not be a higher preference as a major north/south road?

Traffic Signals

525 S Patterson DR

Case Date:
8/19/2026

The crosswalk buttons at the intersection of Patterson and Prospect Street do not appear to be functioning correctly. We have had several reports from our residents that they do not work. Additionally, we have a resident who uses a wheelchair, which makes it considerably dangerous for him to cross, considering that they don't work. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Traffic Signals

2600 W Tapp RD

Case Date:
8/17/2026

The light at this intersection turns red when there are no cars sitting at the light on Deborah. Tapp is the main road the the light should remain green unless a car trips the signal from Deborah. Please consider changing this light from a timed light to a car tripped light. Let the traffic flow continue on Tapp.

Traffic Signals

519 E 10th ST

Case Date:
8/12/2026

The light at 10th and Indiana has been functioning differently this summer. Heading east toward campus on 10th St., the stoplight now first offers the left turn arrow with a red ball. Since there is no left turn lane, those of us wanting to turn left cannot make use of the green arrow until cars ahead of us get the green ball and proceed through the intersection. If even two cars at the lead are going straight, the left green arrow disappears before left turners have a chance. With classes resuming and 10th St. traffic returning to its usual intense busy-ness, I'm hoping the light can be fixed to offer a green left arrow AND ball immediately to assist with flow of traffic. Otherwise, left turners will struggle - likely 0-1 will go through per light cycle - and those behind the left turner will be delayed going straight. It would be wonderful if 10th were ever widened there to accommodate a left turn lane, but historically the proper green left arrow/ball simultaneously has worked sufficiently for traffic efficiency. Thanks!

When heading south on College lately, the lights at 3rd, 2nd and 1st seemed to be perfectly time to turn red when heading south at the speed limit between each. I don’t know if this is incidental but could be much better. Also the light at Walnut and South Dr is turning green for South Drive for lengthy periods even when there is no one waiting and even during early AM hours.

I don't know if this is the right site to complain, but the traffic light at Tapp Road and Deborah Dr. has recently started turning red a lot more than it used to. The problem with this in my opinion is that there are sometimes 10-12 cars stopped on Tapp Road while there are from 0-2 coming out of Deborah Dr. It also stays red longer than it used to. Just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Traffic Signals

360 E S Dr

Case Date:

To Whom It May Concern, I would like to report a concern regarding the traffic signal at the intersection of South Walnut Street and East South Drive. A couple of months ago, the traffic signal timing was changed. Since then, the light appears to stop northbound and southbound traffic on South Walnut Street much more frequently than it allows traffic to exit South High School via East South Drive. As a result, traffic on South Walnut Street backs up significantly, particularly during the morning rush hour. Prior to the timing change, traffic seemed to flow much more efficiently. If possible, I would appreciate it if the signal timing could be reviewed and adjusted to more closely match its previous operation. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, David Taylor

Deborah and Tapp intersection lights are not working properly. They change color way too fast and I think the motion sensor is inaccurate to when cars get to the intersection. PLEASE take a look at it and fix the timing
