Street & Traffic Signs:

Other: This stop sign is backing up terribly at peak times while construction on Rhorer has that throughway closed. Today around 4:15 the traffic was backed up through the roundabout at High and Winslow/Rogers all the way up toward the bus stop on Rogers Rd. A temporary stoplight would be so helpful in easing this congestion.

Responded to resident and explained that a temporary signal was considered but is not practical within the remaining detour period, and no near-term intersection change is planned.

Thank you for sharing this. We are aware that Winslow and Allendale can experience significant queues during the PM peak while the Rhorer construction detour is in place, and we have looked at whether a temporary traffic signal would be practical. The challenge is that designing and installing a temporary signal would likely take about as long as the remaining detour itself. Outside of the afternoon peak, the intersection generally operates without significant delay, so we are not planning a temporary signal or other major change at this time. We’ll keep this experience in mind when planning future detour routes. In the meantime, if you have flexibility to use another route during the PM peak, that may help avoid the worst of the queue.
