Staff Assistant Sanitation & Grounds (Part Time)

Position Description

Employee is directly responsible for the overall grounds maintenance and general appearance of assigned sites. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Performing mowing and trimming, tree cutting, brush and debris removal, material hauling, turf repair, leaf raking, painting, litter pick up, weed removal and other related duties as assigned.
Daily spot cleaning of restrooms where applicable.
Routine inspection and clean-up of playgrounds where applicable.
Accountable for the proper use and upkeep of assigned grounds keeping equipment.
Accountable for maintaining high standards for safety, maintenance, and appearance.
Reports vandalism/graffiti incidents in a timely fashion to ensure immediate and corrective action is taken.
Loading and setup of tables, chairs, tents, stages, etc. for special events.
Assists in set-ups and dismantles tables, chairs, tents, stages, etc. for special events as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Training/Special Skills

Previous experience and working knowledge and skill in the safe operation of trucks, equipment trailers, riding mowers, push mowers, tractors, weed eaters, chainsaws, power tools, hand tools, and other related grounds keeping equipment.

Must have the ability to properly assign the necessary resources to complete the job assignment in an efficient and safe manner and in compliance with maintenance standards.
Possess or obtain current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.
Working knowledge of mechanics and ability to perform safety/maintenance equipment inspections.
Must be self-motivated, and have the ability to interact and work well with the public and other employees.
Must be reliable, punctual, have the ability to follow oral and written direction, and be capable of performing physically demanding work.
Valid driver’s license. Good driving record.

Physical Effort/Working Conditions

Must be in good physical condition. Moderate to strenuous physical effort is exerted by the employee in the setup and operation of equipment; including frequent bending, stooping, and the movement of extremities to operate equipment controls and perform work tasks. Moderate to strenuous physical effort is frequently required for extended periods of time in the lifting and loading of equipment and tools. Employee must be physically capable of lifting weights in excess of 75 pounds. Employee performs duties in and out of doors, in varying weather conditions, and is periodically exposed to work sites with traffic, noise, dust, and vehicle and equipment fumes.

Hours

8 hours per day, 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Some weekends may be required. 40‐hour work week, except during periods of inclement weather. Employees under age 18 are subject to restrictions on both hours and prohibited occupations.

Season

March 16–December 6. Term of employment not to exceed nine months.

Salary

$18.40–$18.60 per hour
