Laborer II Irrigation
Position Description
Employee assists in start-up/shutdown, ongoing maintenance and installation of irrigation systems in city parks and at City–owned facilities under the direct supervision of the regular full time Motor Equipment Operator.
- Digging trenches.
- Replacing irrigation heads.
- Driving dump truck to remove dirt loads.
- Other duties as assigned.
Training/Special Skills
Most duties are performed based on a project schedule, and are reviewed by a supervisor to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met.
- Ability to complete projects in a timely manner and at a high quality standard.
- Must be self-motivated, and have the ability to interact and work well with the public and other employees.
- Must be reliable, punctual, have the ability to follow oral and written direction, and be capable of performing physically demanding work.
- Valid driver’s license. Good driving record.
Physical Effort/Working Conditions
Must be in good physical condition. Moderate to strenuous physical effort is exerted by the employee in the setup and preparation time prior to painting; including frequent bending, stooping, and the movement of extremities. Employee must be physically capable of lifting weights in excess of 50 pounds. Must be physically capable and legally allowed to work at heights in excess of 50 feet. Employee performs duties in and out of doors, in varying weather conditions, and is periodically exposed to work sites with traffic, noise, dust, and vehicle and equipment fumes.
Hours
8 hours per day, 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Some weekends may be required. 40–hour work week, except during periods of inclement weather. Employees under age 18 are subject to restrictions on both hours and prohibited occupations.
Season
April 13–November 22. Term of employment not to exceed nine months.

$16.86 per hour
