City of Bloomington Utilities Project Near 2nd and Rogers Ahead of Schedule
The City of Bloomington Utilities’ (CBU) upgrades to water and sanitary sewer near West Second and Rogers streets—part of a series of construction projects at the Hopewell site—is currently running ahead of schedule.
CBU crews will now close the intersection of West Second and Rogers streets from 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, to 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept 30. During this time, crews will complete both sewer and water connection work before pouring concrete.
To prepare for the overnight closure, crews will be on-site late Sunday, Sept. 28, to move signage and perform saw cuts with flagging support. The intersection will be reopened as soon as the concrete has cured and is safe for vehicle traffic.
Following the work at this intersection, CBU will focus on reopening the section of West Second Street between Rogers and Morton streets.
CBU recognizes the inconvenience that construction projects can cause for residents and businesses and deeply appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation. The ability to advance ahead of schedule reflects the commitment, skill, and long hours put in by CBU crews. These efforts ensure not only timely progress but also the long-term reliability of Bloomington’s water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
As with all construction projects, timelines remain subject to change due to weather conditions, field conditions, or material availability.
