About Olde Lane Orchard

Both our home and the orchard in Northern Daviess Co. are accessed by long-standing lanes-hence the name, Olde Lane Orchard. Fruit has been our business since 2002, and we aim to give our customers the same quality on their table that we have come to love on ours. We have worked the ground long enough to know that heartache and farming often go hand in hand, but that is not the end of the story. Roughened hands and stooped backs and disappointments melt away in the caring exchange of a farm community.

Our venture of faith revolves around the family, with the children involved in nearly every aspect of production. In return, they receive limitless opportunities for character building and for memory making with each other, as well as a strong work ethic which blesses them for a lifetime. When free from schoolwork and chores, they can often be seen roaming the woods and fields, building forts and catching crayfish in Grandma's creek.

A small homemade greenhouse, heated with a cracked wood stove and stuffed with plant flats, usually kicks off the growing season for us, although we have had some success overwintering salad greens. About two acres of vegetable garden keep our shelves full and some of yours as well. Then the market tables groan with the harvest of mouthwatering peaches, apples, and pears from about sixteen acres of trees (in a normal season--that qualifier must be inserted!). We learn a bit more every year, from pruning to integrated pest management, and we enjoy what we do. Many local customers visit the house regularly, and we welcome travelers as well.
