It’s my understanding that there is a cleanup and removal planned for the campsites near RCA park, the concrete plant, and other locations throughout the surrounding woods which is great. The environment has gotten exponentially dangerous in the Broadview area due to these campers including the recent gunshots which was not even close to the first time. I believe this is slated to be done by Sep 1. We still have numerous accounts of trespassing, fighting, harassment, and threats to the residents that have occurred just over the weekend. The police presence has been better but still insufficient for the amount of problems we have and are continuing to endure. What happens after Sep 1? This camp has been cleaned out before, and within a matter of days they start coming back. We are seeing the same people over and over causing issues to the families in this section of town. I believe an announcement, social media post, something is owed to the residents to give us some peace of mind that this is being addressed and will continue to be addressed. I think it took about a week or two last time before the camp was built up again and then neglected for months while the campers continued to harass the neighborhood. There have also been multiple fires lately and we consistently wake up to the smell of plastic being burned and people caught on cameras trespassing and scoping out houses. There are vacant houses also being targeted on Cherokee Dr. We do not want this problem to continue to blow up after the occasional removal of these campsites. A lot of these houses are starter homes for families and what looked like a promising new neighborhood/sub division is proving to be a dangerous place to start anything.

Street & Traffic Signs

1001 E Winslow RD

Case Date:
8/24/2026

At the intersection of E Allendale Dr and Winslow Rd, the three way stop causes unnecessary and possibly dangerous traffic. There should be a stop sign on Allendale and no stop signs on Winslow. The relatively few cars coming from Allendale can wait briefly to enter Winslow without significant inconvenience. Also the pedestrian crossing is barely used and does not warrant stop signs on its own. Winslow is a major thoroughfare in south Bloomington, whereas Allendale enters a suburban development and is not a through-street. There are constant backups on Winslow due to the three way stop. It creates backups that regularly go up to the roundabout at Winslow and High Street, which creates dangerous situations especially when the traffic backs up to the base of a hill that obscures the traffic.

Excessive Growth

1432 S Winfield RD

Case Date:
8/23/2026

This rental is owned by out-of-town landlords who, at one time, lived in the house. The back yard is severely overgrown and has been for years, even when they lived there. There are many towering trees along the west side of the property, with many, many dead branches on them. At least one entire tree has been dead for years (in violation of city ordinance) yet the landlords do nothing about it. This line of trees is about 15 feet from the house to the west of it, and a windstorm could bring them crashing onto that house and/or through its windows. The bushes and shrubbery are overgrown and have been for years, spilling onto neighboring properties. The grass and weeds are tall, in violation of city ordinance. The yard has only been mowed 2 or 3 times all year. It rarely gets mowed, even when the house is rented. Yard waste sits around in piles, sometimes for years, and never gets disposed of. There is junk and trash (in violation of city ordinance) -- a broken window frame has sat in the weeds against a fence for years; broken lattice from the deck has sat in the weeds against the house for years; a lawn mower sits out in the elements in the weeds; a gas can sitting in the weeds. Other objects are in the weeds, but the weeds are so tall you can't tell what the objects are. Tall weeds against all the fences, never get cut. Some kind of wire from the power poles has fallen and is touching the ground for over a year. Landlords do nothing. The property is an unsightly mess and constitutes a nuisance property which warrants legal action.
