Traffic Signals:

Other: The traffic light at Walnut Street and South Drive had been going to green for South Drive for no reason for weeks. It makes Walnut red for 50 seconds while cars back up on Walnut and there is no one on South Drive. It's ridiculous. Go fix it. Make it stay green on Walnut.

Thank you for reporting the signal timing concern at Walnut Street and South Drive. We understand the frustration of waiting on Walnut when there does not appear to be traffic entering from South Drive. We are reviewing the signal operation to determine why South Drive is receiving service and whether the detection and timing are working as intended. Because Walnut is a coordinated corridor, some red time may be necessary to maintain progression and serve pedestrians or vehicles that are not immediately visible. However, the signal should not repeatedly interrupt Walnut traffic because of an unintended or continuous call. We have logged the concern and will determine whether an adjustment or maintenance work is needed. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
