It's easy to contribute to the Habitat Connectivity Map

With this project, the Environmental Commission prioritizes conserving habitat, connecting isolated areas of habitat through the formation of greenspace corridors, and enhancing habitat quality within stable greenspaces.

You can help us work towards these goals by planting and preserving native plants, removing invasive plants, and marking your pledge on our map.

Adding your greenspace to the Habitat Connectivity Map will help to illustrate the habitat corridors between our three Priority Greenspace Areas. You can choose the size and aesthetic; any yard space committed to native plants would be beneficial. Joined together with our neighbors, we can improve our community by creating connected habitat corridors that improve biodiversity for our local wildlife. If we think of the entire city as an ecosystem, every large canopy tree or small rain garden is a great contribution to strengthening our native upland forest habitat.

No one can do it alone, so please take the pledge by adding your contribution to the map and encourage your friends and neighbors to do so as well. The Habitat Connectivity Map is a powerful tool for visualizing the impact residents can have on habitat restoration and preservation within Bloomington. As pledges are added, the map will highlight the good environmental work our community is doing, instilling pride and building momentum.
