Potholes, Other Street Repair

Case Date:
5/6/2026

I have volunteered for the Adopt- A-Drain program for the past three years. My assigned drains are at the Rockport and W Pinehurst Dr and W Pinehurst Dr. and S Southern Pines Ct. I have been cleaning asphalt from the drains for quite some time. It seems to be getting worse. The chunks have been large and small. The streets have been deteriorating for some time now. The rabid deterioration is noticeable to the casual observer. I would appreciate if you would take a look at this area and perform your magic. Thank you very much for the work you do.

Excessive Growth

Case Date:
5/4/2026

I live at 1905 S Hawksmoore Drive. The house located across the street at 1910 S Hawksmoore Drive has been vacant since the owners purchased a new property in May of 2023. They also own the vacant lot at 1914 S Hawksmoore which is next door. The owners typically due the minimum to maintain this property. The garbage bins have been out front for 3 years. This spring the woodpeckers are continuing to poke holes in the siding and the Terminix worker believes it is the source of rodents. They have not cut the grass this year. Could you send someone to follow up? Thanks

Blocked Sidewalk

Case Date:
5/5/2026

919 E. Hunter still has not cleared vegetation growing on western limestone wall from encroaching sidewalk. This is similar to complaint 203473. The vines grow on the wall and extend into the sidewalk right of way. They include poison ivy, which brushes pedestrians on sidewalk.

City Performance

Case Date:
4/26/2026

An out of town friend of ours was on Kirkwood last night. He had come to spend the weekend with his daughter, a graduating senior at IU. He saw that there was an incident brewing and approached officers, who he states were only on the periphery of Kirkwood. He asked them to enter into Kirkwood as the situation was getting out of control. He, a white man, was told if he felt uncomfortable around black people that he should leave. The police, rather than protecting the thousands of students, of all races and nationalities, chose to stand around until gun violence escalated. I hope that you are all deeply ashamed of your lack of concern for the city's residents. IU students, faculty and staff contribute untold monies to the coffers of the city and I hope that you will be able to come up with some sensible policies to protect IU students so they can celebrate the race and all that they bring to the city.
