Parks & Rec Programs

W Karst Farm Park Dr

Case Date:
4/18/2026

Waiting until just minutes before rec soccer games to announce field closures is frustrating and avoidable. The weather conditions were clearly visible on radar well in advance, and a decision could have reasonably been made at least 30 minutes earlier. Families plan their schedules around these games getting kids ready, packing up, and traveling only to find out upon arrival that everything has been canceled. This has happened more than once. Please be more proactive with communication moving forward.

Parks & Playgrounds

W Univ St

Case Date:
4/19/2026

There is a significant shortage of pickleball courts in the city, which has led to consistently overcrowded conditions at RCA Community Park and Switchyard Park. At the same time, there appears to be an overabundance of tennis courts relative to the number of residents actively participating in pickleball. When Hopewell Commons opened, there was genuine excitement in the community. Unfortunately, that enthusiasm quickly faded. Players have largely avoided these courts due to poor and, frankly, unusable conditions—particularly the net setup and, more importantly, the playing surface. The decision to install perforated tile flooring instead of a standard concrete surface has made the courts impractical for regular play. The ball will bounce at erratic angles and if you try to run the shoes willc catch the cracks between the tiles and cause a fall and injury. The surface quality significantly impacts gameplay and safety, to the point where players would rather wait 30–60 minutes for a court elsewhere than use these brand new establishment. Given the budget allocated for this development, it raises legitimate questions about how funds were spent (please share this), especially considering that the cost and requirements for building a standard, functional pickleball court are well understood. The end result at Hopewell Commons does not align with those expectations, and needs to be replaced by a proper concrete base flooring.

Trails

1479 W Eagleview DR

Case Date:
4/18/2026

The gasoline powered Gator vehicle used to maintain our trails leaves in its exhaust invisible and toxic engine exhaust fumes. Cyclists, runners and pedestrians are forced to breathe toxic fumes which float under the canopy often long after the vehicle has passed. This is a public health issue that can be eliminated by the use of electric vehicles. Please consider replacing park and trail service vehicles powered by fossil fuels with the type that do not emit noxious fumes along our lovely system of trails.

Nuisance Lights

1019 N Orris DR

Case Date:
12/9/2025

This light was recently installed, and it has caused me to be unable to sleep in my own bedroom despite curtains. My back yard is almost entirely illuminated (see image). I believe this constitutes a light trespass as defined in Bloomington city ordinance section 20.04.090 section (4) and lacks proper shielding as outlined in section (5)(A).

Sidewalk & Curb Complaints

1113 S Graywell DR

Case Date:
4/19/2026

My house is 1113 South Greywell Dr. In front of my house on the sidewalk there is a tree directly next to the road whose root system is growing underneath the sidewalk and has caused a significant crack. That is a significant danger and liability. I have seen multiple children fall on this. Please contact me as soon as possible so we can come up with a plan to keep everybody safe. Thank you.
