City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #210019

Trails:

Other: The gasoline powered Gator vehicle used to maintain our trails leaves in its exhaust invisible and toxic engine exhaust fumes. Cyclists, runners and pedestrians are forced to breathe toxic fumes which float under the canopy often long after the vehicle has passed. This is a public health issue that can be eliminated by the use of electric vehicles. Please consider replacing park and trail service vehicles powered by fossil fuels with the type that do not emit noxious fumes along our lovely system of trails.

Thanks for the report, Peter. The vehicle in question here is the County's, which they use to take care of the Limestone Greenway. While we still rely on some gas-powered UTVs for our trail maintenance in the City, the dedicated vehicle that "patrols" the B-line is a battery vehicle. You may want to direct this comment to Monroe County Parks & Recreation. Thanks.
