3 homeless people making themselves comfortable on our public sidewalks. Bloomington is on its way to looking like San Francisco
Samira stores the outdoor furniture in front in on the sidewalk.
Bloomington's traffic signal timing is, in general, inadequate. Traffic patterns in the city are highly variable, changing drastically as students arrive and leave with the university schedule and as new student housing is constructed. It would be wonderful if the city were to invest in a system which changes traffic signals in real time as a function of data collected from sensors at intersections. Surely there will be graduate students, postdocs, and faculty in the Luddy School eager to help out with a cool "smart city" project...
Dead racoon on the inner sidewalk overhanging the Vietnam vet memorial
Unsafe curb damage, north edge of Kirkwood between College and Walnut, dead center, opposite the south steps to the Courthouse. This is a trip/stumble hazard, which I know because I fell on my face there at about 4:15pm on 5/1/25. There is other curb damage along the same edge, and I believe the cutout around the lamp post is also a hazard. If anything still hurts in the morning, I will get medical attention. There are two street lights out I believe are city maintained that are just flashing. They are on 100 W. Kirkwood. First one is in front of Tivoli. It’s next to last closest too College Ave. it’s by a bench. Didn’t see a number on pole. Second light is next to the entrance to Fountain Square Mall. It’s the pole that would be close to Walnut. Or if your looking at the entrance from the sidewalk, it would on the right. It’s also just flashing nonstop as well.
Street light out. S side of courthouse.
