Ongoing sewer smell coming from general area of Cascades creek running behind our house. Always an occasional issue but lately (past few weeks) a very PUNGENT odor happening multiple times a day. Possibly a pipe is leaking?

One of our Adopt a Stream volunteers did some water testing in the Matlock Heights neighborhood creek. She was prompted to do so because the creek had a sewage and detergent smell to it. The two sites she tested were marked on the map and her results were: Site 1 results pH: 8 Nitrate: 2 Nitrite: 0 Oxygen: 5 Site 2 results pH: 9 Nitrate: 3 Nitrite: 1 Oxygen: 5

The house located at 2231 N. Martha Street is zoned residential single-family (RS), in the Matlock Heights historic district, but it is being used as a fraternity house (Aloha Kappa Lambda), with attendant problems (noise violations, traffic, trash, etc.). This would seem to be a violation of the city’s zoning ordinance.

The neighbors do not take their garbage city garbage crates off the streets they leave them blocking the road every day of the week
