To whom it may concern Hello, I’m writing to express my concern regarding an incident that happen on 10/16/24. My vehicle had an electrical fire down town on 4th street in front of the India restaurant. I am a single mother of three daughters who I’m struggling to greatly to afford with the cost of food continuing to raise. I work at a CNA during the day while my children are in school but it doesn’t always provide enough. I was doing uber the night of so I could feed my family. My family is my responsibility and I take that very seriously. After the electrical fire, I had no way of moving the vehicle. The officer on scene gave me permission to leave the vehicle parked until I could get ahold of my insurance company. It was not in the road way, it wasn’t blocking traffic, the restaurant owner was not concerned about it being left there, he told me himself that I could park it in his parking space behind the restaurant. unfortunately it could not be moved without a tow truck. the vehicle was left in a parking place and the officer stated that adjustments could be made due to the Circumstances. The next morning I spoke with insurance and the vehicle was supposed to be picked up. I informed the parking enforcement department that it would be moved. Also explaining that it was not possible for me to pay for a tow at that time. I understand the inconvenience of the situation and I apologized over and over. The woman I spoke with got nasty with me several times and hung up on me twice while I was trying to explaining to her my situation and how limited I was but I was doing everything I could. I called the insurance company over and over explaining the importance of the vehicle being moved. The last phone call I got from the parking enforcement woman was the nastiest. She was extremely aggressive and was using her job tittle as a weapon. She told me after this call I will ticket the vehicle every hour until it’s moved and then proceeded to hang up on me yet again. After about the second call I realized the woman’s aggression was progressing so I recorded the last two phone calls for the purpose of bringing her behavior to the attention of anyone above her. The way that I was treated was uncalled for and more importantly it was cruel. To be ridiculed, threatened and quite frankly bullied should not be accepted and I get the feeling it’s not her first time. I will go as far as I need to if this situation is not handled, because there is no humanity in kicking someone while they are down. I not only was given the ticket but treated with so much disrespect. Her position gives her the power to bully the citizens of this community and someone needed to bring attention to it. She said her name was Jessica and she worked on 10/16/21.

I paid for several hours on a meter and got a ticket before the time was even up! I appealed it and only got a letter saying my appeal was denied -- no reason. This is so unjust and I have no recourse but it makes me want to avoid ever visiting Bloomington again! This is fraud on your part, giving me a ticket for a meter that hadn't run out yet!

Hello, I work for the County and have a parking pass to the Scotty's garage. It has not worked for me at all last week or today. It will not let me into the garage, but it will let me out. Double charged for parking, November 2017 Hello, I had attempted to contact dalyr@bloomington.in.gov, as I was advised by the City of Bloomington Parking Garage that I need to provide information to R. Daly, in order to be refunded the double charge. However, my email bounced back as undeliverable. Can you help? Please let me know if you need any other information. Thank you!

I recently noticed on IU classifieds that some people are trying to buy/sell parking permits which is not allowed according to my knowledge. I'm an IU senior who lives on 217 S Lincoln in town. My apartment doesn't have parking for all of its tenants this year, all nearby garage lots are full, and monthly parking lots are being rented out by the local churches and businesses. I have tried for weeks to find a parking spot even remotely close to my apartment and hoped that The City would be able to issue me a Zone 9 permit since that is the closest zone to my apartment (within blocks). Today I was turned away and told "you either live in the zone or you don't, so there are no other options." I am incredibly appalled that The City has no means to help and is not willing to accept the money of a county citizen who is in a desperate situation to find parking. The City doesn't have to care about my specific situation or plight, but it should care about the well-being and security of the masses. I know I am not the only person in my neighborhood who is having such an issue. Parking should be an essential living item--like food, water, and shelter. Adequate and nearby parking is quite often a NECESSITY in order for people to get to work, to keep their jobs, to earn an income, to visit their families, to maintain a routine. It is senseless, unorganized, and uncivil for The City to claim to put such an emphasis on city parking yet not provide a zone for all areas of town NOR allow a resident to receive a permit for the closest zone to their residence. Come on, Bloomington, who are you helping if you're not out to help everyone?

I pay $67 a month to park in the Morton St. garage. For the past week and a half almost, the gates to the garage have always been open. Anyone can come and go as they please. What exactly am I paying for if it has been open this long?

Hi there, I live in an apartment complex in Elm Heights and have a question regarding the street parking on south side of 2nd street between Henderson and Fess where the Elm Heights Bloomingfoods used to be. Currently, the signs state that the parking is 2 hours, which made sense when the building was in use. However, neighborhood parking on the surrounding streets is pretty tight during the majority of weekdays when IU is in session. Unfortunately, there have been times when I have had to make use of these 2 hour spots due to the lack of availability of street parking near my dwelling and have been subsequently ticketed. Is there any specific reason why these spots are still being enforced with a 2 hour limit even though Bloomingfoods went out of business? Is there any way the 2 hour limit could be removed for those that display a neighborhood zone permits until a new tenant is found for the building? I understand that I am responsible for the fees incurred by my violation for this current 2 hour policy, but fail to understand why it is being maintained so aggressively given the fact that the reason for implementing the 2 hour street parking (accessibility for Bloomingfoods customers) is no longer valid. I am in the process of planning our office closure in Bloomington and have a question related to the alley that is located to the west of our current building. What would I need to request for the alley to be partially closed for a day or two for a moving truck to be parked there while we move out furniture?
