Drainage or Runoff

Case Date:
6/4/2025

Dear Sir/Madam, This is a request regarding stormwater runoff and property flooding. This a formal request for assistance and an inquiry regarding significant stormwater runoff impacting our property located at 4244 E Stephens Drive. We reside at 3625 E Tamarron Dr. and are writing to you concerning repeated flooding at our aforementioned property during recent severe storm events. Our property at 4244 E Stephens Drive has experienced flooding on two separate occasions due to the substantial volume of rainwater rushing from the street into our driveway and subsequently into the garage and house. We believe this issue is primarily caused by the combined slopes of the street leading to our property and our driveway, which directs a large influx of stormwater directly towards our residence. We had a professional assess the situation, and they recommended that the City's Engineering or Drainage Department investigate the matter. Thus we are requesting that a city engineer or drainage specialist visit our property to evaluate the existing conditions. Our goal is to explore potential solutions to mitigate or divert the excessive rainwater runoff from the street, thereby preventing it from overwhelming our existing garage drainage system. We are hopeful that a city representative can identify measures to protect our property from future flooding incidents. Please contact us at your earliest convenience to schedule a site visit or discuss this matter further. You can reach us at 812-340-7863 (cell) or 812-332-9005 (land phone) so that we can be there when your engineer comes. Thank you for your time and attention to this urgent issue. Have a wonderful day! Sincerely, Shingshong & Hwamei Shei

Comments for Administration and City Council members: please note the Bloomington public response and feelings as executive orders from Braun come down at the federal level - it is against the core values and heart of this community. The future is remote and hybrid with emphasis on flexibility as workers are human not cattle. DEI is important in every capacity, not whatever Braun’s “innovation” plan is - that is a buzzword, not DEI. Please please please continue to actually think in a forward direction with all residents, equity, the environment, and future generations in mind. It seems the state is now going backwards; Bloomington needs to continue progressing in a positive and inclusive way. Residents hope to see a public response and show of action that does NOT align with Braun’s recent takeover. We look forward to continuing to participate in a community that does great work for ALL with workers who happily serve us. Thank you for your consideration of these comments and continued work for the actual citizens who make up the community.

Greetings. Once again, I see little to no effort on behalf of the City of Bloomington in celebrating Pride, and more specifically assuring safety and inclusion of its significant LGBTQ population. At least at current, I see no mention on the CFRD or Mayor pages, and no of no sponsored events. There has been seldom to ever a time in recent years of such attack on this minority population, with safety feeling slim even at the university level, and now is the time for moral leadership. Please step forward and actually speak up on behalf of your residents.

Please allow all citizens to stay up to date by using an open to all system without the need to sign up to social media. What is posted on social media could be posted on a single city website page, no? Facebook is exclusionary, does not allow all citizens to see all that you post. If you want to reach people through facebook and others great but the information should be available to all with out jumping through those hoops.
