uReport Case #210299
Attn: Jeff Yutmeyer
I want to re-open this case because when I went to the rear of my yard this afternoon, I saw that Xfinity/Comcast, cut the cable from my house and let it drop into the thorn bushes. This presents more of a fire hazard because there is a layer of dry leaves on the ground; the cable is still attached to the electrical pole. Xfinity should be fined for doing work such as this ... what were they thinking?
Please re-open this case - thank you.

Fire Hazards
3400 S Sare RD BLDG 1200
- Case Date:
- 10/24/2026
My neighbor has repeatedly used a charcoal grill that lets up smoke and fills my apartment with that and a burning smell since I moved in (in addition to aggressive behavior in response to my asthma-induced throat clearing and coughing). He is doing so now and smoke is clogging up my deck. I’m not sure if anything can be done. I’ve reported the issue to Steeplechase Management but it seems he hasn’t stopped so not sure how/if it was handled. They aren’t answering their after-hours line. I think it’s against fire code, at least.

For the past 5 days at sundown a horrible acrid stench of burning debris is making the whole neighborhood want to puke. We can’t open our windows or doors without making the houses stink inside. I speak for at least 8 people who rent in the area. Thank you for looking into this.

Requesting an immediate safety and egress inspection by the Fire Prevention Bureau for the residential structure at 530 S Washington St.
Primary safety violations visible from the public right-of-way:
Complete Egress & Primary Exit Obstruction
The front entrance, porch, and primary walkway are physically obstructed floor-to-ceiling by severe accumulation of discarded materials. Occupants have no usable primary escape route in an emergency, violating clear-pathway egress standards (International Fire Code Section 1031).
Extreme Combustible Fuel Load & Radiant Heat Exposure Risk
The exterior and interior exhibit an unusually high density of combustible materials (paper, wood, plastics, and dense trash). Because this structure sits within 5 feet of an adjacent occupied home, this extreme fuel load creates a severe radiant heat exposure risk, accelerating potential fire spread and flashover to nearby structures.
First Responder Trap Hazard
Blocked doorways, obstructed windows, and heavy fuel loading present an immediate trap hazard for occupants and severely compromise rapid entry and search-and-rescue operations for responding firefighters.
Requested Action: Conduct an exterior safety inspection under Indiana Code § 36-8-17 (Fire Prevention) and Indiana Code § 36-7-9 (Unsafe Building Law), and issue an official order to abate the egress and fuel-load hazards.
