As of 5:30pm 1/30/24 the storm drains on the southeast corner of Henderson and University (on both sides of the corner) are completely blocked with dirt and debris. Not possible for someone walking by to clear. Some of the other storm drains on this corner may benefit from clearing. Thank you. -C

Water coming up from this area is staying on the street drainage. It seems to be worse since the crews recently came through to install fiber. I see multiple reports on this issue have been made but there's water there now that could be tested.

For years there has been a strong sewer smell in the this area. (I have paid for plumbers to examine my house and the problem is not in the house.)
As the cable workers have been laying the cable, I asked various if they also smelled the sewer odor and if they knew where it might be coming from.
There were three basic answers: (1) A "lift station" in one of the drains may be faulty; (2) the terrain where sewage may back up at the crest of the hill; and (3) the manhole cover between houses at 909 West Gourley Pike is old and may be corroded so that the sewer gas is able to escape.

There are two pipes that run under the railroad tracks, opposite the B-Line trail at lamppost 157, that are part of the stormwater drainage system for the surrounding neighborhoods. They both appear to be almost completely blocked up, effectively creating a stagnant pond on the north side of the tracks. I tried clearing debris from around the mouth with a rake, but I believe the blockages are deeper inside the pipes. It would be good if this could get cleaned out before mosquito breeding season begins. It might also be a good idea to install a grate to prevent larger debris from getting lodged inside these pipes in the future. Thanks!

Drainage pipes that run under the railroad tracks are blocked up again. I cleared as much as I could from the inflows but I can see more material lodged inside. Hope we can get a grate installed at some point to prevent future blockages. Opposite the B-Line trail at lamppost 157. Thanks!

During a phone call about planning questions this morning, I received a request/complaint about the maintenance of the storm inlet at the northeast corner of Reverend Butler Park, at the southwest corner of 10th Street and Fairview Street. The storm inlet regularly gets blocked with branches and other debris, causing flooding in the park, in 10th Street, and in the basement of 615 North Fairview Street. The caller requests that CBU institute a regular schedule of maintenance to keep this inlet clear. Thank you

called into city hall - K.Cummings, AHA inputting this issue --
John stated that he has called several times regarding this issue - there are two storm drains, one directly in front of his residence and another that is across the street that are in need of repair. John advised that the grates are too low, causing them to consistently get debris on them, causing flooding.

Many storm drains and curbs look like this in neighborhood after winter going into weekend of massive rain. The no leaf collection is a fine idea, but there needs to be follow-up street sweeping or repercussions for people who don’t clear their curbs and drains.
