There are 15-20 shopping carts in the Latimer Woods, if you go down the trail you will continue seeing more trash, clothes, and shopping carts. The culvert down at the bottom of this trail is filled with trash as well. It would be fine if these were individuals just setting up a camp for themselves, but they are destroying the property and filling it with just trash. This morning when I was walking out there there was a broken vase that had been put out into the street too

Several of the bridges on the trail at RCA park have severe damage. One of them has been broken for weeks, the other has several broken boards and has become unsafe in the last day. There is also a deep pot hole in the asphalt. I am sending pictures of the problems. I greatly appreciate what all of you do! Thank you!

In June, the terrible storms that knocked down many trees all over the city and left many of us without power for days also caused some damage to the trees on the trail loop in RCA park. My backyard is next to the trail, and there is a very tall tree with a massive broken, dead branch that is still hanging on. I foresee this breaking off the tree soon and falling straight onto my backyard fence as well as blocking a portion of the trail. To keep my fence from being destroyed, is it possible to have this branch cut off and removed? I live at 1018 W Countryside Ln.

Goat Farm Park and Olcott Park Loop

While walking late last night (circa midnight) along the asphalt path around the parks, I noticed that someone had set up a small tent in the woods (last night, the tent was illuminated from within by the person's flashlight). It was just a few yards off the lower end of the path that cuts through the woods between Olcott and the Goat Farm areas, where the path bends (tent was off the outside of the corner) and comes into view of the small bridge over Jackson Creek. On previous nights, I've smelled a latrine odor in the same general area, so I doubt this was the first occurrence. Given that this is very near a popular wading stream and not far from the playground, I decided to report it.

There's a person riding a gasoline powered motorcycle or bicycle or similar contraption up and down the Rail Trail just about daily lately. It's very loud and goes too fast for a pedestrian and multi-use trail. I've seen it numerous times between Gordon Pike and Country Club on the rail trail. Just one of the many problems and dangers the city allows to continue on the trail since the homeless camps on city property on the trail have swelled in size. Those camps need to be cleared out immediately for the safety of all trail users.

Around 3pm on Friday, March 29, 2024, a vehicle was parked on the gravel road parallel to the Rail Trail north of Gordon Pike. A little bit later, passing by again, there were homeless people unloading items from the car it appeared. This car would have had to drive on the multi-use path along Gordon Pike to get onto the gravel road. As of 8am 3/30/24, the vehicle is still parked at the homeless camp. The City needs to do something about these camps. There are gasoline powered bikes traveling the Rail Trail and gravel road with little regard for pedestrians, tons of trash from Gordon Pike to Country Club Drive, and now free parking at the camp sites. The problems started when the homeless moved south and it is getting worse by the week. This is on City-owned property. This makes the Rail Trail less safe for everyone. Clear the camps out. The City needs to take action before someone is seriously hurt by the growing problem the City allows to fester. It is only a matter of time.
