I paid my fine today. However, I would like to note that we visited Bloomington to shop antique stores and enjoy your city. We did make purchases at 2 different antique stores and enjoyed a delicious lunch at Amrit Restaurant. We were surprised when we got back to our car and found the citation. We were parked near a crowded outdoor market and truly did not notice a meter. Most cities we visit don't charge for parking on weekends. We enjoyed our visit but will be going elsewhere in the future to spend our money in other small towns.

There is a black BMW 'parked' in the 800 Block of West 3rd st with expired plates that looks abandon. It has not moved in quite some time and perhaps should be removed. Thanks.

I parked on 6th St near Dunn St and put money in meter. Turns out meter was not working yet. Why doesn't city government inform the public as to status of use of new meters. The entire meter process has been a circus.

Not really a problem, but maybe an improvement to a situation.
I remember, while visiting Rehobooth, Va.
That the parking meters had an available app. that I loaded on to my I phone.
I was able to pay my parking meter via a credit card I had registered with a third party through my iPhone.
The program even sent me a txt message when the meter timer was running low and asked if I wished to continue billing my credit card.
I think Bloomington would benefit by this next step.
Thank you.

Seriously City of Bloomington ? You've put in meters and on top of 25cents an hour and parking ticket REVENUE, you are also requiring the user / city resident / visitor to pay YOUR credit card transaction fee. Really ? Please name me one downtown merchant that requires the customer to pay this fee. Ridiculous. I will be shopping / eating / recreating elsewhere. Not downtown Bloomington.
Good luck to you and your soon to be very irate merchants / downtown business owners.

I'm not trying to appeal a ticket, but I do have a question. I received a parking ticket today because I did not properly use the meter which I should have. That was my fault, I admit. However, I took a quick look at the meter, and for some reason, it said "expires at 1:30 pm" or something like that. Do previous cars' allotted times continue even when the next person parks, and does the next person parking need to somehow stop the time and then start another session, or something like that? Just curious.
Secondly, as I wrote in a comment that I realize was directed to the "other" and "public works" section of this site rather than parking, I would like to apologize again for a nasty, profane complaint letter that I included in the envelope I used to pay my parking ticket. I wrote the letter essentially in the heat of the moment, and did not mean anything I wrote at all. You may not have received the envelope yet, but it was poorly written, so please disregard it. I have a much higher view of the city than what the letter indicates and take full responsibility for today's parking situation.

I received a parking ticket on 11/09/2013 due to incorrect signage for the new parking meters. It is not clear which meter is for a specific parking space in front of Le Petit Cafe on 6th Street on the north side of the street. It is not clear that the space farthest to the east just next to the rails-to-trails path is a valid parking spot since the east side of the space has a yellow curb. Yellow curbs typically indicate "no parking." this are needs better signage. That space isn't even wide enough for the average car if it is even supposed to be a parking space. The curb should be repainted to clearly indicate if it is a parking space or not.
