I had my car predatorily towed by Tow Time Towing and Recovery on 22 May, I believe in the afternoon. I woke up this morning needing to get to work, and my vehicle was gone. I panicked and assumed it had been stolen only to find it had been towed due to failure to display a parking permit – despite the fact that the parking lot was nearly completely empty, and I was not obstructing any parking. Additionally, I was parked in my parking place, but after driving, I forgot to return my parking pass to the mirror. The pass was removed because it obstructs my view while driving. I have seen that the cap cost in Bloomington for towing is $135 and yet Tow Time has insisted I owe them $170 for the tow. After explaining the situation they said there was nothing to be done. I have since not been able to get to work due to my vehicle being gone so unexpectedly and will have to walk over two miles to the impound lot to pay to retrieve my predatorily impounded vehicle. There were no warnings I was in violation, and this has caused a considerable disruption to my work schedule and put a very significant financial strain on me given the unexpected and, in my opinion, excessive nature of the fine for what was not an illegal action and was little more than a small error in forgetting to re-display my parking pass. I would appreciate any assistance in this moving forward, and I hope by filing this, I can assist in the prevention of predatory impounding like this moving forward.
There is a LOT of items in this yard. Items include a full sized refrigerator, a mini fridge, a window AC unit, a shopping cart full of junk, an RV that is full of junk without a door (it has been used for storage for YEARS!). Plus, many, many other things! I last reported this in early April 2025 and it is near the end of May and NOTHING has been done, yet the ticket for that says resolved. DOES THIS LOOK RESOLVED TO YOU? This is well within the city limits and as such it is the City of Bloomington's responsibility to ensure that this property gets cleaned up!
There appears to be a small homeless camp in the backyard behind the unoccupied house with a tent and two abandoned vehicles. The house itself has been vacant for many years and none of the people staying there seem to be entering the home. A relative of the people who own the house, a man named Bob, began staying in the backyard over a year ago, but he has since left and other people are now staying there in his absence. Recently, neighbors have found human feces and needles in their yard nearby, creating sanitary concerns, as well as heard a woman yelling in what sounded like distress at night. Outreach to the family of the property owner has not been successful so far, so I’m hoping someone could please look into this situation. Thank you!
Ceaseless work on property by staff, including late into the evening. Dumpster and portapot on site for approximately 5 years. Excessive lighting at all hours of the night. Soil erosion into the floodplain as a result of excavation and tree removal.
re: ticket 202706 you should very much allow this area to remain unmown. it makes the trail very pleasant to walk down and provides valuable habitat for butterflies and lightning bugs amongst other things. turning this into a barren, empty, mown field is just silly.
Caller to HAND reported that overwhelming amount of trash in the backyard, the garage door is open with garbage in it and there is a gas can amongst the garbage in yard.
My neighbor maintains a vacant property, and has since before 2013. The backyard is a junkyard, and a rodent resort. If he can maintain a vacant property, he should have to clean up. It's a terrible eye sore and negativity affects our property. I live 835 w kirkwood. His is the house to east of mine
There are several issues: 1) Cars and frequently parked jutting into the alleyway or the city right of way, which is a hazard to traffic and also partially blocks exit from our garage. 2) Somewhere between 5 and 10 different cars come and go on a regular basis, some of which stay overnight at different times. Thus, the backyard is sometimes stuffed with cars. It's not clear who lives here and what the nature of the living situation is. For example, is this a community that provides mental health services to young men? If so, is it appropriately registered with the city? There is too much traffic at this property to fit a typical family or group living situation. I think there needs to be a welfare check or a visit of some sort by the city. 3) There still is trash stuffed underneath a blue tarp, including half of a toilet.
