There are not any street lights in the alley behind my house. We had a break-in this week in the back of our house, and I think having street lights in the alley could have prevented it. Being back there at night is very creepy, and anyone could come attack us at night when we are trying to get in our back door. For safety reasons, I feel like it is important to that back there.
The alley behind our house does not have any lights in it at all. Not only does this make it a bit unnerving and dangerous to walk there at night, but it also makes it a very easy target for unwanted visitors. Last night, one of our bedroom windows was broken in and when we looked out back, we were not able to see anybody running away since there are no lights in the alley way. By adding a few lights to the already existing utility poles in the alley way, it would hopefully prevent similar incidents from happening in the future and make it much safer for all of the residents that use this alley on a daily basis.
Hello, Yesterday (Tuesday, June 28, 2016) a new sidewalk was built next door at 1119 N. Lincoln Street. The left over concrete was dumped in the tree plot at the southeast corner of my lot at 1125 N. There is a retaining wall located between the houses on S. Sweetbriar Circle and S. Henderson St. I realize that the wall is on the private property, but was wondering if the city had any details about how the wall was constructed or if there was a specific code that the builder was supposed follow in order for the city to permit the wall.
Greetings, Starting around 2a on April 4, a horribly obnoxious ringing began filling the air near the hospital. It is running non-stop, and is rather painful to the ears. Is it the IU Health hospital? If not, what else is doing this, and is it possible to have it stop? Thank you!
I have been a teacher at the Project School for 3 years now and we are in desperate need of more clear signage that Smith Ave is a one way street going west, especially now that Chocolate Moose has started food truck fridays again. I'm guessing because of the bike lane and the stop sign going East it may confuse drivers, but I think we need paint on the road with arrows and more one way signage.
Eighth Street is extremely poorly lit. From Walnut all the way to Fess there are almost no street lights and its extremely dangerous. I feel unsafe walking home from the IU campus at night, or even walking home from a restaurant in the evening. The lack of street lights in this area is simply ridiculous. The city of Bloomington has an obligation to make sure its citizens are safe and it is neglecting to do so. The area that is the subject of this complaint is the exact same street in which Hannah Wilson was abducted and murdered, and within the last month the exact same street has been the location of an armed robbery. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that something must be done to make this area safer. The city has a responsibility to do everything within its power to protect its citizens, and adding a few streetlights hardly seems like an impossible task.

Hello, At 7:30am, someone began jack-hammering the sidewalk immediately outside my apartment window at 222 N College Ave. There are several apartments facing that sidewalk at this location, and it is directly across the street from the Hilton Hotel. In other words, since many people may be trying to sleep in this area, it seems a bit unreasonable to start something so loud before 8am. Thanks for your attention to this matter. I lived near the intersection of 8th and Dunn this past school year. I felt extremely unsafe being outside after dark due to the lack of lighting around. I think the street, and its residents, would be much safer if there were more street lights.
