Biking & Walking

502 S Washington ST

Case Date:
11/12/2025

All of the painted lines that were crosswalks here have long since worn away and no one has come to repaint them. Some drivers still treat this area as if the lines are painted, but many do not. Crosswalks near stoplights and Hills often have people driving accelerate the most. Please repaint all four crosswalks, 2 on Washington, and 2 on 2nd st.

Biking & Walking

400 E 3rd St #5

Case Date:
11/12/2025

Instead of slowing down when motorists see pedestrians attempting to cross 3rd Street, they instead often speed up and appear to only have their eyes on the stoplight ahead of them and other cars, especially westbound traffic when the pedestrian is crossing the crosswalk from The Burger Bar to head south to the other side where the apartments, bus stop, and Pizza X is. East bound traffic is only slightly more gracious (likely because their eyes aren't fixed on a stop light that is around the corner and somewhat out of view.) Obviously, I would not walk out right in front of a car, but only cross when the Westbound traffic is high up on the hill, but they accelerate driving downhill regardless what color the stop light across from the police station is. They accelerate for red lights, even though they are hurrying up to wait. Just overall hostility and carelessness at this cross walk. Perhaps a push button with flashing lights would be appropriate here since drivers ignore the pedestrian signs and painted cross walk.

Request a new Street Light

726 W Howe ST

Case Date:
11/12/2025

Adding to the requests about the street lights, we noticed last night that all of the lights in the neighborhood seem to have been replaced with harsh white LED fixtures. At a minimum these need diffusers or something, the naked LEDs are very harsh and hurt the eyes of pedestrians. It would also be great if there were shields or something directing the light down, as currently they are unshielded. Honestly having the old lights back would be a massive improvement, but given how unlikely that is please consider these other mitigations. The light pollution from these lights is very unpleasant.

Request a new Street Light

335 S Euclid AVE

Case Date:
11/11/2025

Hello! I recently noted that the streetlight outside my house seems to have been changed out for a really horrible glaring and harsh cool-toned one. it was previously a lovely and classy warm shade of orange. can you confirm if this light was actually recently changed? hopefully i am wrong and it’s just malfunctioning somehow. if the city has in fact switched the warm toned bulbs for cool ones, is there a way to have it switched back? my street looks like a soviet prison camp now :( thank you!

Nuisance Lights

Was the streetlight at W Smith and S Jackson st recently replaced with an LED fixture? It is really excessively bright, there was nothing wrong with the existing streetlight. Please turn down the brightness of the light of at all possible, thank you.

Ground has been dug up and left unfinished for quite awhile. I’m not sure what is supposed to be happening at the location but there is a big ditch just sitting there. Cones have fallen over. A mess on the other side of the sidewalk also.

Street Snow Removal

W Acuff Rd

Case Date:
11/10/2025

This morning, November 10, on my son’s way to school, he slid off the road and damaged his car. He was not going to fast, nor could he have done anything to prevent it as he hit a patch of ice on a curve. While a somewhat new driver comparatively, he has experience navigating slick conditions from growing up racing and riding 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, etc. The reason he slid off the road is because it was not salted, sanded or treated in any way. The road, Acuff, is a road traveled by many students to get to Bloomington North. As he sat and waited for his Father to help him, he witnessed numerous cars almost run into him, do 360’s, and hit curbs. Why this road wasn’t a priority being a route to the school is baffling. I hope roads that are connected to school parking lots will become a priority, especially as in this case when the weather was no surprise.

Street & Traffic Signs

614 N Lincoln ST

Case Date:
11/10/2025

It would be helpful to have a west-pointing "One Way" sign installed on the east side of the Lincoln/Cottage Grove intersection and maybe even a "Do Not Enter" sign to alert drivers intending to turn right that they are about to encounter one-way traffic headed west. Currently, there is a west-pointing "One Way" sign on the NW corner of the intersection, but (ironically) view of it is mostly blocked by a "Do Not Enter" sign on the SW corner of the same intersection. Drivers on Lincoln who approach this intersection and who are unfamiliar with the street directions in this neighborhood could (do) easily turn right and head east against the traffic direction, formally in commission of a moving violation but it seems unfair to ticket them when the street layout is not well-communicated to the drivers. Note: there might have been a sign in this location in the past, but there have been some ADA-sidewalk projects in the area recently that necessitated temporary removal of signs, and any signs laying about could then have been picked up by a member of one of the local fraternities, notorious for sign theft in the neighborhood.
