Nuisance Lights:
Other: The street light (which is in our neighbor’s back yard, not on a street) behind our house has recently had a new bulb put in. Now it’s so bright that it shines in our bedroom window at night and impacts our ability to sleep. Can you please remove the bulb again or install a light blocking shield? Not sure what it’s meant to illuminate for the public as it’s in a back yard.

Planning staff observed the light on the utility pole which was not properly shielded from neighboring properties as the lighting elements were visible from beyond the property line. We will issue a Notice of Violation (NOV) Warning letter to the property owner to establish a compliance deadline for brining the lighting into compliance with shielding requirements.

As this was reassigned to Planning staff, that should mean this is a private light installed by the homeowner--not a public light. Planning staff will add this to our list of investigations.
