Thanks for checking in. We are actively looking at improvements along Covenanter and at the College Mall Road crossing. We plan to present some near-term options to the Transportation Commission at its September 28 meeting at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall, Council Chambers Room 115. These include possible signal timing changes and improved bicycle detection, such as video detection or a push button. You’re welcome to attend in person or online. We’ve also been working on draft plans for bike lanes along Covenanter and expect to bring those forward at a future Transportation Commission meeting.

Hi Neil, Thank you for checking in on the Covenanter corridor. This is something we are still looking at. We plan to include more future safety improvements here for people biking as funding becomes available. A notable project in the area is the Crosswalk Safety Improvement at Covenanter and Auto Mall RD. This design is still being finalized but my understanding is that it will be a "protected intersection" meaning that bike lanes will have concrete separation at the intersection and there will be a buffered bike lane to College Mall RD from there (both eastbound and westbound). For concerns specific to the Covenanter and College Mall intersections, I am forwarding this report to Engineering. This location was the subject of a recent traffic inquiry at the Transportation Commission. Thanks so much, David Brantez ([email protected]) Alternative Transportation Coordinator
