Other: I have reached out to Switchyard Park by phone, by email, by social media MULTIPLE times about the noise levels in switchyard park. I’ve also had to call the non-emergency line to see if the police can do anything. (I didn’t know what else to do.) They agreed the noise was very loud but they couldn’t find employees and the performers had permits, so nothing was done. The officers suggested I reach out to the city council. My mother has MS and has an hard time moving around due to this condition and I have autism amongst other health issues. We are being run out of our house almost every time there are events at switchyard park. I understand it is a community park and I do not have an issue with the music or events. I do not want to ruin anyone’s experience whatsoever. It’s the volume that is the issue. The bass is so high it shakes our house. We didn’t know when we purchased our home this would be so much of an issue, and cannot afford to move. When I complain the noise level goes down for a week or so and then right back up. My own birthday party had to be cancelled early due to no one being able to converse inside. Today I had to arrange for my mother with a DISABILITY to be picked up from our home, due to me being at work, because the noise is so bad she can’t even watch tv with the volume turned up and was extremely agitated by the home shaking. I’m in no way asking to cancel anything. We ourselves enjoy some events at the park. I just feel as if being run out of my own home is unfair, especially when all I want to do is come home from work and relax. We are NOT safe to relax in our own home. Is there any way there can be a noise/bass level set so our neighborhood can rest in peace, in our own homes?

Hello Erin- Thank you for taking the time to share this with us, and I am very sorry that you and your family have been experiencing this level of disruption from events at Switchyard Park. We take your request for established noise and bass-level expectations seriously. I will share your concerns with our department leadership and the appropriate staff so that we can look at how sound is being managed during events at Switchyard Park, including whether there are additional measures we can put in place to reduce the impact on surrounding neighborhoods. We agree that events are an important part of Switchyard Park and we want to continue to offer that to the community. At the same time, being a good neighbor to the surrounding residents is an important responsibility. Our goal is to find a reasonable balance that allows people to enjoy events at the park without creating an unreasonable disruption for those who live nearby. Thank you again for reaching out.
