City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Submission Received #213203

Traffic Related Complaints:

Other: The amount of simultaneous construction across the entirety of Bloomington has reached a truly ridiculous point. Driving anywhere in town has become a tumultuous, stressful mess. This widespread tearing up of major roads started well before summer, and instead of wrapping up, the gridlock has only gotten increasingly horrid. To make matters worse, the city failed to finish these projects before a massive drove of college students returned to town. Flooding our already broken, bottlenecked streets with thousands of extra drivers at the exact same time is a complete failure of planning that has made Bloomington practically undrivable.

We understand that several major infrastructure improvement projects are going on simultaneously around and adjacent to the downtown that temporarily disrupt traffic routes, and we recognize that it can be frustrating. These are important projects for improving our public spaces and maintaining the transportation network for all users. We do our best to get as much work done as efficiently as possible, given the constraints of weather, school year traffic, availability of asphalt and contractors, and restrictions on how and when we may spend money from various funding sources. We want to keep our infrastructure in the best shape we can, and we thank you for your patience. For the most up to date information please view https://bloomington.in.gov/inroads/events
