Other: What is going on at the City owned property on S. Walnut Street by the public safety training center that large equipment is running at 8:47pm? Last night they were going after 9pm. Why is the City operating heavy equipment at these late hours?

Thank you for your inquiry. We've gotten several messages about noise at night from different areas, and we think that the source is actually coming from work on 2nd Street and Rogers, where Utilities has had permits to work at night using some very heavy equipment. That phase of the project should be complete after tonight (Weds., Oct 1). We apologize for the noise and thank you for your patience. The night work provides a safer work environment for employees and alleviates traffic issues. There is also construction happening on the parcel you mentioned. The Bloomington Fire Department is building a new logistics and training center on that public safety mini-complex, but that work is not happening at the late hours you mention. City staff have driven around at night to listen for any other projects that might involve loud construction, and the only one we've identified is the CBU project.
