Sidewalk & Curb Complaints:

Other: We’ve had large trucks run over our curbs repeatedly and the neighbors have also had issues with trucks going on their yard and damaging their property. We were told poles or other barriers couldn’t be put in place ironically until there is an accident first. But I am writing to request that a no large vehicles over a certain size or with carriers attached be allowed to turn there. The attached photo is the specific truck as it ran the curb from EMI

Thank you for your concern regarding large trucks at W Smith Ave and S Morton St. This location is not a designated truck route; however, trucks may legally use non-truck routes when accessing nearby destinations for deliveries or construction, which likely explains the recent truck sighting. Additionally, regarding traffic barriers, as we mentioned previously, based on our evaluation and a review of crash records from the past five years, there have been no reported crashes at this intersection. For that reason, we are not recommending installing poles, barriers, or edge protection at this time. We will continue to monitor the area for any changes or ongoing concerns.
