Biking & Walking:

Other: on the south side of Smith Ave just east of Walnut St (the north boundary of 405 S Walnut, Chocolate Moose), there is a strip of gravel between the sidewalk and the bike lane. the gravel frequently enters the bike lane and has caused my kid to fall there. its my impression that planning dept zoning enforcement is supposed to prevent this landscaping choice?? ps the photo is old but the problem is still present today. thanks!!

As this site plan was approved a while ago before UDO regulations became more strict on this issue, some decorative landscape rock was permitted in the landscaping beds along the street in the approved landscape plan for the site. However, the stone has been expanded throughout the whole landscape bed beyond what was originally approved. Planning staff will draft and issue a Notice of Violation (NOV) warning letter to the property owners/responsible parties for failure to comply with the approved site plan. The letter will establish compliance deadlines by which this violation will need to be corrected and enforcement will escalate until the violation is resolved. Please feel free to reach out to the Planning Department at 812-349-3423 or planning@bloomington.in.gov to check in on the status of this case.

Ryan, please feel free to discuss further with Jackie if needed, but per last group meeting regarding gravel in the ROW/tree plot we were under the impression Parks is the point of contact for necessary action for tree plots.
