Every property in the City is allowed to have 3 small temporary signs without requiring a permit: 2 signs of up to 5 square feet in area and 1 sign of up to 8 square feet in area. That includes temporary yard signs. Such temporary signs must be of temporary construction (i.e. not permanently secured to a building or the ground). Additionally, signs smaller than 1.5 square feet in area do not require any permits. Permanent wall sign allowance is based on a property's zoning district and use (i.e. single-family, multi-family, nonresidential, etc.).
