City of Bloomington, Indiana

Nuisance Lights:

Other: The city of Bloomington has chosen to place two new, unwanted, street lights on the 1000 block of South Hawthorne. They appear to be halogens because they are VERY bright at night and causing light pollution at night. Our starry skies are gone. Why have they been placed there? There are currently "Hurricane" style street lights in the same vicinity. Did someone request these? Thank you. V/r, Mark

Ms Stubbs, The two pedestrian style lights will be relocated along the new trail between Hawthorne and Weatherstone as they were mistakenly installed in the wrong location by Duke Energy. The LED lighting fixture mounted on the existing wooden pole will remain in the same location. Please let me know if this light is too bright by emailing me at smithc@bloominton.in.gov.
