City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #193128

Traffic Related Complaints:

Other: 117 S. Heritage Rd. This morning took me at least 10 m. standing by my driveway to guide my daughter back up to leave. While I was doing it, friends came by to complaint about this situation which drove them crazy. No one can argue with legal parking on the public street, is it legal to drive on the public street? If a legal driver’s vehicle hit a legal parking vehicle, who’s responsibility it is? Why under such a hazardous situation people still willing to take the risk to park their vehicles on the public street? Must be something worth to explore.

Staff met Ms. Yang and Ms. Cookman on site and I explained to them why Heritage Rd is getting busier these days during the Indiana Department of Transportation project. I also informed them why the engineering Department can't do the line of sight from the driveway and we can't add a no parking sign for temporary conditions. Generally, the city supports street parking because it can provide reduced traffic control in addition to providing a place for people to park their vehicle.
