This amendment is sponsored by Councilmember Piedmont-Smith and removes a provision that prohibits the slaughtering of chickens on the harborer’s property. The amendment provides that a person who has obtained a permit to harbor chickens may slaughter a chicken for the purpose of household consumption when the chicken is no longer able to produce eggs. The amendment also requires that chicken slaughter occur in a humane manner and out of public view.
