I just returned home from downtown Bloomington. Not one single sidewalk leading to a crosswalk has been shoveled. I found it quite dangerous to walk through the snow and ice to cross the street. I am required by law to clear my sidewalks within 24 hours after the end of a snow storm and do so religiously. Yet here it is three days after the end of the last storm and no effort has been made to clear the crosswalk sidewalks. Why must I obey the law if our own city government and mayor are aloud to violate this law. This is inexcusable not to mention discriminatory. Shame on Mayor Hamilton and his government. Sidewalk work is currently happening on Laura Way and I'm wondering if the city can install a sidewalk connecting Jennifer 1063 and 1059? We have a lot of young kids on our street right now and the bus stop is right past that section. It would be nice if the kids didn't have to walk on the street during htat busy time. I think 1063 is a double lot and so the developer never finished the sidewalk. There are some trees that I don't think anyone would want to cut down, but perhaps the sidewalk can be installed a bit closer to the curb through that section? Also, I live at 1044 and we have one section of the sidewalk that is raised due to tree roots. It's unclear if they are roots from a tree on our property or roots from a tree on city property. Could the city fix that as part of this project? There is also a water hookup very close to this spot so I'm not sure how complicated this would be. It's not a terrible issue, but bumpy enough to make pushing a stroller or using a scooter a bit precarious.
