Fire Hazards

1201 W 10th ST

Case Date:
4/2/2024

On the ridge overlooking the northernmost part of the B-Line - close to where the B-Line intersects with Adams St. there is a growing camp. The picture here was taken on 4/1/2024. There is trash flowing downhill from the camp on the ridge. Some of the trash includes at least 3 propane tanks. The camp is less than 0.25 miles from homes and a park. It is a bit scary to think that the campers might be using the propane inside their tents. What can be done to help these folks stay warm and dry without the risk of blowing up a neighborhood?

217 S Roosevelt ST

Case Date:

I would like to file this issue against the residents at 221 S Roosevelt St. I can only submit one photo here but I also have multiple videos of the noise and more dates and times logged. I live near this property and there is a huge noise issue. The residents at 221 S Roosevelt throw a party with loud music at least once every weekend and play the loud music into the night disrupting other neighbors. I have contacted the police for noise complaints multiple times but they often don’t get there for a couple of hours so the music keeps us awake. We have asked them multiple times to turn their music down but they continue to be disrespectful and disruptive. The music issue has become so bad that I try to spend my weekends living somewhere else so that I am able to get sleep before working all weekend. I cannot find any information on how to contact the owner of this property and am hoping submitting this report helps me find some way to resolve this issue. This issue of their noise and loud music makes living next to them incredibly uncomfortable and distressful. Also just clarifying again that this is a complaint about the residents living at 221 S Roosevelt St. Thank you.

Trash

535 W Lava WAY

Case Date:
3/13/2025

I found a bunch of Heroin Syringes on the ground between the apartment buildings. Lame that people would shoot up just right in the grass out in front of the building, then toss the shit onto the ground uncapped. Not hard to see why people don't have a lot of sympathy for addicts.

Traffic light appears to be out. Only the right-most light of those visible to drivers headed west on 7th at intersection with N College. It might just be green light that is out- not sure.

Potholes, Other Street Repair

210 E Kirkwood AVE

Case Date:
12/17/2024

There is a deep pothole (looks like a failing patch maybe?) that was from when a fiber contractor was through over a year ago. It never seemed to have repaired correctly and since it has been so long I am worried we’re stuck with it!

In regards to resolved uReport# 181500: Reply from City: Up until recently, we've been relying on the scooter companies to enforce their users behaviors with illegally parking of the scooters. We have two positions that we are currently hiring for that are funded with fees from the scooter companies that will focus on moving into a system where fines will be issued for improper parking. My reply with two (2) questions: I do not understand Adam Wason's reply in light of what was stated by City Attorney, Mike Rourker, in 2019 (please see below for quote). Additionally, I worked from March 2019 until October 2021 as the main point-of-contact (POC) working with the entities licensed by the City for providing the service and product of motorized scooters, and neither was I informed of any efforts to ticket the companies nor the users of the scooters. Can someone please explain to me what the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for holding the licensed entities accountable for the stipulations in the ordinance governing use and management of the scooters was prior to the recent creation and hiring of a new staff position? Also, why were no violations issued and no fines collected in over three years? Thank you for your time. "At its July 31, 2019 meeting, city attorney Mike Rouker told the city council that scooter companies would be fined if their users violated the parking restrictions. Rouker put it this way: “So just to be clear, at the same time, that Bird or Lime or another scooter company may be taking those additional steps against their own users, the city, if this is an issue, will be fining them every single time we see a parking issue.” Rouker continued, “I suppose if the company wants to move very slowly and pay lots and lots of fines to the city, until we’re fed up enough that we either revoke their license or geo-fence an area, that’s a business decision. But I don’t know if it’s a sound business decision.” For an improperly parked scooter, the fine called for in the city’s ordinance runs $30. The fee connected to impoundment is $100, plus $10 per day storage, and another $150 for disposal. As it turns out, the only payments the scooter companies have had to make to the city of Bloomington are the $10,000 annual licensing fees and the 15 cents a ride. The three companies now operating in Bloomington are Lime, Veo, and Bird." Street & Traffic Signs

701 N Maple ST

Case Date:
3/9/2023

Most all of Maple Street is marked as No Parking, except a short distance before it intersects with 11th street. 2-3 cars consistently park in that short distance, fully occupying the right side of the road. Cars turning onto Maple from 11th cannot see when a car is approaching the intersection on Maple, and the cars on Maple are forced to stop on the opposite side of the road, causing near miss accidents daily and excessive honking. I would like to request that the “No Parking” zone be extended all the way to the stop sign as all residences (including the apartments in the photo) have designate parking areas. The intersection is also frequented by school and city busses, causing even more danger.
